Love INC Newberg — Mobile App Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 25, 2026
Last updated: April 25, 2026 — UpStart Productions (developer)

Who we are

Love INC of Newberg, Oregon (“Love INC Newberg”) is a local community ministry. This policy describes the native Love INC Newberg iOS app and how it handles information.

UpStart Productions is the app’s developer and technical publisher. We build and maintain the app for the ministry. Love INC Newberg and its staff decide how program information is used in ministry work; the app sends data to a hosted nonprofit platform the ministry uses (see Data hosting & processing). If you have questions about program records or how the ministry uses your information, contact Love INC Newberg. Technical or app questions may also be directed to UpStart using the contact below.

What the app is

The app is a native iOS client (built with Ionic and Capacitor) for community and nonprofit services. It does not use a first-party public website for core features. It connects to a hosted nonprofit platform over the internet, caches some data on your device, and may show embedded or linked content (for example, video or maps). The app collects and transmits personal and program-related information you choose to provide, along with device and account identifiers as described below. It does not use “cookies” in the way a website does; it uses on-device storage and local databases (see Local storage on your device).

Quick summary: categories of information

Category Examples
Onboarding & profile Name, email, how you want to use the app; newsletter opt-in; preferences stored with your profile on the platform.
Request assistance (pre-intake) Contact and reason for reaching out; optional comments; phone when provided; city; newsletter and optional SMS opt-in.
Intake completion Intake phrase, email, and name as needed to connect you to the ministry’s intake process.
Classes & programs Name, email, phone, mailing address, date of birth, program/class identifier, and additional registration questions.
Vouchers & volunteer interest Information the relevant forms request (e.g. identity fields, selections, and device/platform details where the form supports them).
Push notifications If you allow notifications, a push token from Apple (APNs) is registered with the platform for ministry-related messages.
Device & app identifiers An install identifier (UUID created in the app) may be sent to correlate activity; this is not your phone’s serial number or IMEI. The app may also report device or platform type where needed for support or features (e.g. volunteer interest). This is not continuous GPS or precise location tracking.
Local storage Cached content, notifications, and form/offline-related data in on-device storage (e.g. SQLite) — see Local storage.

Data hosting & processing (GrovLink)

Information you enter is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS to GrovLink (the Nonprofit Mobile Platform), a hosted service operated separately from the app. Love INC Newberg’s data is associated with the Newberg affiliate on that platform. The app authenticates to the service using a standard mobile-to-server channel; credentials are not shown here and should not be shared publicly.

What we collect & why (by feature)

Onboarding

You may select how you want to use the app (for example, getting help, volunteering, or giving). You may provide first name, last name, and email, and choose newsletter opt-in. This registers you with the ministry’s platform so the app can show the right information and connect your activity to your account. The platform may send a magic link by email to verify your address.

Request assistance (pre-intake)

The “I need assistance” / request assistance flow collects at least: first name, last name, email, city, the reason for contact (from a fixed list, such as becoming a client, services, a program, volunteering, and similar), and optional free-text questions or comments. If you provide it, phone is collected. We also collect newsletter opt-in and may collect an SMS / text message opt-in for the platform.

Text messages: If you opt in to SMS, messages may be used only as Love INC Newberg and the platform enable (for example, service-related texts). If SMS is not active for the Newberg deployment, the field may still be collected for the platform, but text messaging may not be used; confirm the ministry’s current practice before publishing. [TBD: confirm whether SMS is used for Newberg; if not, state that only email/newsletter or similar applies and SMS is optional or platform-dependent.]

A persistent install identifier (a random identifier created in the app) may be sent to help the ministry and platform connect related requests. It is not the same as your device’s hardware serial number, IMEI, or advertising ID.

Intake completion

You may complete intake by providing an intake phrase and email (and you may supply name). This links your app use to the ministry’s intake and client-access process according to the ministry’s procedures.

Class and program registration

Registration may collect name, email, phone, mailing address, date of birth, the class or program identifier, and additional questions the ministry or program requires. The same optional install identifier may be sent as in pre-intake.

Vouchers, volunteer interest, and profile

Voucher requests send the voucher selection and identity (and device) fields the form supports. Volunteer interest submissions may include name, email, device platform or model, and what you expressed interest in. The app can load an app user profile from the server (for example intake status, activities, requests, and in-app notifications) using your email and/or the install identifier.

Push notifications

If you allow notifications in iOS, the app registers a push token (APNs) with the platform so the ministry can send ministry-related notifications the platform supports, scoped to the Newberg configuration where applicable. You can turn off notifications in Settings > Notifications on your iPhone.

Email: verify, restore, change email

The app may use email magic links for verification, sign-in or account recovery, or changing your email. Those actions are processed through the platform’s public secure link flows; only you should use links sent to your own email.

Local storage on your device

The app stores information on your iPhone or iPad (including with SQLite through Capacitor) to cache app content, notifications, and form- or offline-related data so the app works smoothly. This data remains on the device unless it is synced or sent to the server as described in this policy. It is not the same as website cookies; it is normal local storage for a native app.

Other services & content

Embedded or linked content (such as YouTube or similar) may load when you use those features. Those providers’ own terms and privacy practices apply to how they process information when you interact with their content.

A map or location helper in the app may use third-party services (for example, OpenStreetMap Nominatim or similar) to look up or display addresses or donation/location information. That use is to support ministry-related features (such as showing where to donate or get help), not to sell your data. It is not described here as continuous GPS tracking of you as a person; we do not use the app for background location tracking in that sense. If the ministry adds other third-party services (for example, analytics), they should be listed in an updated policy — do not assume tools are present unless they are actually integrated. [TBD: list any real analytics or other SDKs if added — none are assumed here.]

Legal bases (how we use information)

For users in the United States, we rely on appropriate bases such as: your consent (for example, when you opt in to newsletters, SMS, or push notifications); legitimate interest in operating the app, connecting you with the ministry’s programs, and keeping accounts secure; and performing a transaction or program relationship when you request assistance, register, or participate in services. This description is for transparency and is not legal advice.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or similar regions

The ministry and platform are focused on United States service delivery. If you access the app from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other regions with data protection laws, you may have additional rights (for example access, correction, erasure, or objection) subject to how Love INC Newberg, UpStart, and the platform can respond. Contact the ministry or the email below; we will address requests in line with applicable law and program constraints.

Sharing, sale, and marketing

  • Information is shared with the hosted platform (GrovLink) and used by Love INC Newberg staff and systems as part of program operations.
  • We do not sell your personal information in the common sense of selling lists to data brokers.
  • Communications (such as email newsletters) are sent in line with your opt-in choices. The app is not for unrelated commercial marketing. Use of SMS is covered under Request assistance, above, pending your [TBD] confirmation.
  • Service providers (for example, UpStart in a development and support role, and cloud/hosting for the app build) may access information only as needed to support the app and ministry, subject to appropriate agreements and safeguards.

Retention

How long information is kept depends on Love INC Newberg’s ministry needs, legal requirements, and the platform’s practices. The app does not set a single fixed period for all data in the policy text on your device. If you need specifics about your information, contact the ministry or the address below, and we will help as allowed by program rules and the law.

Security

We use HTTPS (encryption in transit) between the app and the ministry’s platform. We work to limit collection to what supports the app and the ministry’s work. No method of electronic storage is completely secure; you should also protect your device and email account.

Children’s privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13. The ministry’s programs and intake rules may also limit who can enroll or use certain features. If you believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, contact us using the information below and we will work with the ministry to address it as appropriate. This is general information, not legal advice; have counsel review if needed.

Your rights & contact

You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, subject to the ministry’s and platform’s program requirements, legal duties, and technical ability. We may need to verify your request.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, the platform, or the ministry’s practices change. The “Effective date” and “Last updated” line at the top will be revised, and we encourage you to review this page when you use the app or after major updates. Continued use of the app after changes means you understand the updated policy to the extent applicable.
